This is a 10-blade, 250 watt
low speed wind turbine generator
built entirely within the USA. Output is computed using open voltage
times direct short amps measured at the turbine in perfect test
conditions. It was designed to produce a maximum of 30 vdc and
8.5
amps in perfect test conditions. You may or may not ever see this
output in the real world due to variations in installations, winds and
many other factors that affect turbine output. This turbine normally
starts turning
in 8-10 mph winds after it has been run-in. It may require a bit more
wind when it is first installed.
Since this is a low speed
turbine I do not reccomend running it in
winds much over 25 mph. Excessive wind can damage the generator.
The turbine is very compact,
measuring about 25" long and utilizes
10 blades each being 12" long.
The prop hub is made of .076"
steel.
The arbor that connects the
hub to the motor shaft is machined
from 6061 T-6 aluminum and has 2 allen set screws to keep it securely
fastened to the shaft.
The turbine weighs about 6
pounds.
A suitable pole with a 1"
I.D. is needed to mount the
turbine.
Your wiring (14 gauge for
runs up to 50 feet) should be run from
your battery, up through the pole and then through the turbine downtube
on to the top of the turbine frame where it is then connected to the
wires running from the turbine motor.
If you leave 24" of slack in
the wire at the bottom of the pole
wire twisting is normally not a problem.
A blocking diode is already
installed so that the turbine will not
discharge your battery when the wind is not blowing.
The turbine frame is made
from 3/4" steel square tubing and is
capped on each end. The downtube is welded to the bottom of the frame
and is made from 7/8" O.D. round steel tubing. The entire frame is then
painted black.
The tail fin is made of
fiberglass reinforced plastic. The motor
is securely fastened to the frame and will not come loose.
The motor cover is purely
cosmetic and is made of black, ribbed
plastic.
The propeller blades are made
from PVC plastic pipe and may or may
not have some scuff marks on them from shipping.
Replacement blade
sets as well as any other parts are
available if you ever need one.
The turbine comes 95%
assembled. All you have to do is bolt the
tail fin to the main beam, bolt the blades to the prop hub and install
the hub onto the arbor. We reccomend the use of Blue Locktite
threadlocker.
This turbine can be used to
charge 12 volt batteries, run a large
string of LED lights and even works with some grid-tie inverters. More
wind will make your battery charge faster.
We have sold several thousand
of these turbines over the years and
they have been used successfully by boaters, farmers, ranchers, RVers,
campers, hunters and science classes all over the world.
We ship the turbine in a USPS
Priority Mail large flat rate box in
order to get YOU the least expensive shipping cost that is possible. We
can ship 3 of these turbines in the same box at no extra cost to you.
We ship worldwide and we ship
quickly. A USPS tracking number is
automatically sent to your Paypal email address when we ship.
The turbine is professionally
packaged to avoid damage during
transit. We use recycled packing material exclusively.
Each and every one of these
turbines is tested for both function
and output 3 times before boxing. The motor is tested when it is
unboxed. It is tested again after the blocking diode is installed. The
final test is done after the motor is installed onto the frame.
Every turbine leaves our
facility functioning exactly as
described.
